Lombok Tourism - Sekotong Beach

Sekotong Beach


Another beautiful Lombok beach is Sekotong Beach. The beach has its own attractions. Sekotong is one of Lombok Barat district that is located on south western of Lombok Island. It has long white sandy beach, protected bays, crystal clear blue waters magnificent coral and green mountains as a backdrop. Sekotong beach is being hailed as the "new" tourist destination for visitor to Lombok. Much of the area still relatively unchanged exhibiting beautiful, natural landscapes and simple, traditional life style. The only word that comes to mind is "peaceful". It's taking lazy walk on the long white beaches, soaking in the exotic sunrises and sunsets or admiring the majestic view on Mt. Rinjani, Lombok highest peak, and Mt. Agung on Bali, you will be surprised at the sense of well being that will surround you in this delightful setting and you would never feel hesitant to visit beach.

This beach is surrounded by a circular hill area not far from the beach. Sekotong Coast is still original, free of pollution and has not much touched by humans. However, now in Sekotong, there are some accommodation facilities such as hotels and inns that are began to be built.

Sekotong is one of the 15 districts in West Lombok. Here the tourists can climb small hills near the coast. At the top of the hill, there are a lot of beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed. From the top of the hills, the tourists can enjoy the beach scenery Sekotong freely. Mount Agung Bali will look across the ocean. In addition, a number of islands (dyke), which is quite close to the beach Sekotong will appear as well. At least, there are dozens of islands in the waters of Gili Sekotong cluster, among others: Gili Genting, Gili Lontar, Gili Gede, Gili Bedis, Gili Sudak, Gili Nanggu, Tangkong Gili, Gili Berairan, divan Gili, Gili Asahan, Screen Gili, Gili Rengit, Goleng Gili, Gili Anyaran, and Gili Poh. From a number of these islands, many of which are uninhabited. Only a few are inhabited namely Gili Screen, Gili shavings, and Gili Gede.

Gili Gede is an island with an area of approximately 323,000 hectares. It is the largest island in the cluster Gili Sekotong and inhabited by 2000 people or 318 households. Most of them work as fishermen and farmers. While Gili Island Nanggu been developed as a location for marine tourism. To reach this place from the beach Sekotong, it takes about 15 minutes. On this island, many tourists are sunbathing and snorkeling. Today, Gili Nanggu is visited by at least 100 tourists each day.

Sekotong area is a very good area for those of you who like to explore the beauty beneath the sea because this place has rare coral reefs in touch and still natural, so do not be surprised if sekotong beach has stunning underwater beauty with an intact coral reef and bottom of the sea. Here we will do dive 2 to 3 times by using traditional boats.

Sekotong Beach is one of the famous tourism spot on the island of Lombok. This beach is located in West Lombok regency, precisely in the District Sekotong. If measured from Mataram, this Sekotong Beach is about 60 kilometers. To reach Sekotong Beach, you can take public transportation, kind of minibus around 1.5 to 2 hours. The other choice is you can also reach it by going through the Port of Nusa Penida. With a charter boat, Nusa Penida-Sekotong trip can be taken within three hours.

Gulf Sekotong:
Sekotong Bay is located in northwestern part of Lombok Island. Under the sea, there are many coral reefs and rare fish, which fish in the human touch. Among these are small islands: Gili Nanggu, Kedis Gili, Gili Genting, Gili Ringgit, Gili Gede, Gili Poh and many more else.

Gulf Blongas / Lonely Bay:
Blongas and Lonely Bay is located in the southernmost island of Lombok, Blongas Bay is a distinguished place in the very famous diving Shark gavel which reach up to 2 meters. The beauty of the underwater was so charming and the coral reefs is still natural.
